We built this website to help Shellharbour Airport with their petition, which asks to review the Open Cycle Gas Turbine power station – Tallawarra B by Energy Australia.
They are trying to keep the aviation around Airport safe for everyone, and the Open Cycle Gas Turbine power station doesn't seem to be safe.
Their modelling shows that the plume can reach vertical velocities up to double the CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) determined maximum at 700 feet altitude. If the modelling is correct, the plume will create a very high risk of a fatal aviation accident in the Haywards Bay/South Dapto residential areas. As we interpret it, the plume is not suitable for use within the circuit of an aerodrome.
